Peščar stone (sandstone) is extracted from several quarries in Serbia. The different types of sandstone get their name depending on the quarry they come from. The best known are the Ljiška sandstone, the Kruševac sandstone and the Pirot sandstone. Peščar stone is a sedimentary rock (bound sediment), which belongs to psammite due to the size of the bound grains (grains). They are made of quartz grains, muscovite and feldspar. These are rocks that were formed by the union and bonding of grains of sand, which is the basis of this stone. Depending on the type of sand, they can exhibit different technical and aesthetic properties - from marble to granite. It is obtained by splitting large stones into smaller pieces, which are then processed using various cutting, grinding, punching and polishing techniques.
